He was born Oct. 5, 1911 in Taneyville, son of William and Annie Hampton. In 1931 he married Ethel Halcomb in Kissee Mills. They were married 77 years prior to her death in January 2009.
Sherman worked as a farmer. He also worked for different contractors as a carpenter. He helped build Shadow Rock Motel and built a lot of homes in Forsyth and Branson. For many years he and his family drove to California where he worked in different fruit orchards from spring until October.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel, infant daughter Nadine Ann, 3 grandson, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
Survivors include sons, Carl and wife Mary of Oroville, CA., Donnie and wife Norma of Kissee Mills, MO., Denzil Hampton Cameron, MO., Lonnie Hampton of Sedalia, MO.; 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren. Niece Jesse Case and husband Exie and many more nieces and nephews.
