Charlie Monroe Hammond, Jr., 78, passed away December 6, 1996 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born December 26, 1917 in Salt Lake City to Charlie Monroe and Helen Jessie McFalls Hammond, Sr. He married Ruth Brown, August 20, 1949 in Salt Lake City. Marriage was later solemnized Dec. 1, 1962 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Charlie was baptized May 18, 1960, was an active High Priest, Salt Lake Temple worker, served home mission in the Book of Mormon Distribution program, held various ward and stake callings. Retired Safeway employee and World War II Navy veteran 1942-1945.
Survived by wife, Ruth, Salt Lake City; daughter, Annette (Randall) Pugmire, Taylorsville, Utah; son, Chad (Ann) Hammond, Littleton, Colorado; five grandchildren: Braden, Shalyn, Janelle Hammond, Bradford, Rebecca Pugmire, sister, Rosemary (Bud) Martin, Ogden; brother, Fay D. (Wanda) Hammond, Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Rd., where friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment: Redwood Memorial Estates.
