Ruth Hammond Christensen of Simi Valley, CA
Ruth Christensen passed away Tues., April 19, 2011. She was 91.She and her twin, Beth, were born in Logan, Utah May 27, 1919. Beth died soon after. Ruth graduated from college with a degree in business administration. Throughout her life she worked as a secretary and legal secretary. In 1943, she joined the Women's Army Corps. She was stationed in New Guinea and Manila, Philippine Islands. Ruth was the personal secretary to various generals and colonels. She was discharged as sergeant. While at a dance in Salt Lake City she met the love of her life, Max Christensen. They married in 1947 and had three children, Linda, Paul and Dia. Max and Ruth were together for 52 years until his death in 1999. Ruth and Max retired in Palmdale for 14 years until his death in 1999. She then moved to Simi Valley to be close to her daughter. Ruth enjoyed singing, writing, reading, gardening, painting, sketching, and shopping. She was happy and active well into her early 90's.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Fiedler; her son, Paul Christensen and husband, Max Christensen. Memorial services will be held at Rasmussen Mortuary, 96 N. 100 W., Mt. Pleasant, Friday, April 29 at 2:30 p.m.
