Jim was a member of the LDS Church, he was secretary of the Elders and High Priest Quorum and also was the ward clerk. He enjoyed the temple and did temple work for many years. He served two stake missions.
He worked at HAFB, retiring after 36 years. Jim spent 10 years as a crossing guard for Ogden City. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially loved country music and had a record collection he started at age 15. Jim also loved to take pictures.
He is survived by his wife Shirley; son, James Kent (Connie) Hammond; daughters Diane (Jack) Goff, Carol (Michael) Kroczka; 8 grandchildren, Cindy, Kaylynn, Chris, Kariann, Joshua, Lynnette, Jonathan, Rachel; 3 great-grandchildren, Blake, Elain, and Isaiah. Also survived by his sister Virginia (Stan) Casteel and sister-in-law, Aloma Hammond.
Preceded in death by his son Craig J. Hammond; brother Ervin A. Hammond, Jr. and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at Myers Mortuary of Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd. on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call on Sunday, June 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Interment at Myers Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd., where military honors will be accorded.
