Alta Lucille O'Donnell, 88, of Portsmouth and a longtime resident of College Station, Texas, died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in a local hospital.
A native of Rosalia, Kan., she was the widow of retired Sgt. Chester A. O'Donnell of the Bryan Police Department. She was a former school teacher in Kansas and a member of A&M Presbyterian Church, College Station, Texas, and Bryan, Texas Police Wives Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, retired Cmdr. Jack A. O'Donnell of the U.S. Coast Guard and his wife, Betty, of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, Jackie Bell, Willie O'Donnell, Joan Shaw, Steve O'Donnell, Michael O'Donnell and Bradley Brooks; and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 5 p.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Tom Potter. Burial will be in Kansas. The family will be at the funeral home from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Portsmouth Police Department.
