Viola Hamlett Dagenhart, 67, of Evington, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Richard Johnson Dagenhart. Born June 30, 1931 in Charlotte County, the daughter of the late Jesse Edward Hamlett and Ellie Nash Hamlett Greenwell and B.W. Greenwell, stepfather. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Johnny Dagenhart and his wife, Wanda, Michael Dagenhart and his wife, Kathy all of Evington and Richard E. Dagenhart and his wife, Faye of Rustburg; two daughters, Debbie Boley and her husband, Tom of Lynch Station, Sharon Montero and her husband, Joe of Stafford; 18 grandchildren, Belinda, Johnny R. Jr., Angie, Bobby, Tammy, Sondra, Tracy, Shana, Phil, Angela, Ashley, Kenneth, Tiffany, Parris, Joey, Zachary, Jordan and Aaron; four great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Ashton, Cody and Destiny; six brothers, Bobby, Butch and Eddie Hamlett, John Greenwell, Johnny and Leonard Dagenhart; seven sisters, Erma Moon, Ethel Baker, Alice Beliew, Joyce Austin, Henrietta Donaldson, Betty Allen and Virginia Dagenhart; three aunts, Beulah Saylor, Mary Nash and Lula Nash and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. In addition to her father, mother and stepfather, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David Hamlett and Gene Greenwell; one nephew, Darrell Lloyd; one brother-in-law, Jack Day and one sister-in-law, Alma Dagenhart. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998 at Gospel Light Baptist Church by the Rev. Scott Dean and the Rev. Jim Critchley. Burial will follow in Altavista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Finch & Finch Funeral Home, Altavista and other times at the residences of her sons, Johnny and Michael. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Altavista Life Saving Crew, P.O. Box 1, Altavista, Va. 24517.
