Rose Penny, 62 of Rockdale passed away Thursday morning, February 5, 2015 in the Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Services for Rose are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale. Burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Rev. Adam Straznicky of St. John’s United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation is Tuesday February 10th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Rose was a new year’s baby, being born January 1, 1953 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Henry and Helen (Tyson) Hamilton. She and Jack Penny were married on May 28, 1984 in Kalamazoo. They have lived in Waller County, lived in the Black Jack Community since 1989 and in 2008 moved to Rockdale. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church where she was a nursery worker and very active in church activities. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Frances Mary Hamilton and brothers, Louis Hamilton and an infant brother.
Rose is survived by her husband, Jack Penny of Rockdale; son, Hubert Penny of Rockdale; daughter, Aesha Penny of Rockdale; a brother, Leonard Hamilton of Kalamazoo, Michigan; two sisters, Betty Patrick of Marlin, Louisiana and Barbara Brown and husband Larry of Rockdale; four grandchildren, Tanisha McBride, Marcus McBride, Darius McBride and Jayla Allen.
