Dorothy Marie Vincent Hames passed away peacefully on March 23, 2011 at her family's home in Hillsborough, Calif. with her daughters and family by her side.

She was born Jan. 15, 1923 in Lake Charles. She was the daughter of Alice Findley Vincent and William Samuel Vincent of Sulphur. She was a graduate of Sulphur High School and valedictorian of her class. She went on to McNeese State College, where she earned her degree. Upon graduation, she started her career in banking, then married and had two daughters. Later, she studied at the New York School of Design and helped establish the design firm Byers, Clemons, West, Interiors in Little Rock, Ark.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, president of Eastern Star, charter member of Entre Nous, Reveler's Club and lifetime member of WSCS. She devoted her life to her family, her church and her many beloved friends. She will be remembered for her smile, kindness, compassion and graciousness of a true Southern lady.

Her remaining family members include her daughters, Charlene C. (Ray) Hines of Hillsborough, Calif. and Alison C. (John Allen, M.D.) Ramey of San Diego, Calif. She has five married grandchildren, Christian H. (Craig) Lilly, Ray (Kimberly) Hines Jr., Charlene R. (Sean) Hutchins, Jay (Lara) Ramey, Laura R. (Kevin) Lukens; seven great-grandchildren; Wells, Harrington, Brayden, Austin, Anne Catherine, Alison and Anabelle; and several nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice F. Vincent and William Samuel Vincent, her husbands, Joe R. Hames and A. C. Clemons; her brothers, Halton "Coke" Vincent and William L. Vincent; and her sister Eleanor V. Dimmick.
According to her wishes, she will be laid to rest at the Vincent Memorial at Mimosa Pines Garden of Memories, Inc., in Sulphur. Her memory lives in our hearts forever and we will miss her dearly.
