Mrs. Sam C. Hamer

Mrs. Sam C. Hamer, age 77, passed away at her home near Kilmichael early Friday morning, July 15th from a heart attack. She had been in declining health for several weeks.

Mrs. Hamer was the daughter of the late Captain C. D. Kelly of Winona. She was married to Sam C. Hamer Feb. 21, 1882. A member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church she lived a beautiful life. She was a true helpmate to her husband and a kind and loving mother. She was a good neighbor and always willing to extend kind words of sympathy to the sick and the sorrow. Her sweet Christian life will ever be cherished by her children and many friends. She bore her trials and sickness with patience and was submissive to God's will.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 on Saturday morning at Kilmichael Methodist Church by the Rev. W. O. Hunt, Methodist pastor at Kilmichael, assisted by the Rev. W. H. Roberts, Baptist minister of Kilmichael and the Rev. H. N. McKibben, Methodist minister of Duck Hill. Interment was in the Kilmichael cemetery with Trewolla Brothers in charge of the arrangements.

The deceased is survived by four children, Mrs. W. Y. Hammond, Itta Bena; Mrs. John R. Allen, Clyde S. Hamer and Miss Hadgie Hamer of Kilmichael; one brother, Charles Kelly of Chicago and four grandchildren, Kelly Hammond of Greenwood, Alice Elizabeth, C. D. and Charles Hamer of Kilmichael.

Those who attended the funeral from a distance were: Mr. Charles Kelly and Mrs. Lena Kelly Bastine of Chicago; Mrs. C. H. McCall, Misses Olive Chastine, Lena Bruns and Roy Tyler of Jackson; Rev. and Mrs. Wash Bailey of Swiftown; Miss Mamie Manning and Mrs. Peyton Manning of Drew; Mr. Jim Hamer of Doddsville; Mrs. Homer Sledge and Miss Dollie Hamer of Cleveland, Mrs. Sam Hammond, Mrs. S. B. Hammond, Mr. and Mrs. John Coleman and Mrs. Tom Carter, all of Itta Bena,
