Obit in The Anthon Herald, 16 March 1932, page 1: The people of this community were saddened by the death of Mrs. Elise Katherina Hamann Albers Monday evening, March 7, 1932, at 6:30 o'clock in St. Vincent's Hospital, Sioux City, Iowa. She had been ill for the past few months but was not considered serious until Friday morning when relatives were summoned. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, March 11, at 1 o'clock in the Henry Albers, Sr. home at Midway, in charge of Rev. Gottberg of Midway and Rev. Hamann of Battle Creek, Iowa. Burial was made in the Midway cemetery under direction of R. Hudgel Funeral Service. Elise Katherina Hamann Albers, a resident of the Sharon community, was born December 16, 1899, in Ida County, near Cushing, Iowa. Here she spent her early childhood and later came with her parents to their home near Midway. In 1915 at the age of 16 years, she was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran church at Midway by Rev. Rueber. This faith was firmly kept until the Master's call. Twelve years ago she moved to Battle Creek, Iowa, with her mother where she made many friends. On March 12, 1924, she united in marriage to Meinhard Albers by Rev. Hamann at Battle Creek, Iowa. This happy couple came to Midway, and later moved to their home in the Sharon community. Here she made many friends by her kind and happy disposition. At death she had attained the age of 32 years, 2 months and 21 days. Surviving are her husband, her mother, Mrs. Lena Hamann of Battle Creek, three sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Peter Wigand of Correctionville, Mrs. Henry Wigand and Mrs. Merton Singleman of Battle Creek, Gus Hamann of Battle Creek, Hans, Frank and Herman of Correctionville.
