Lieutenant Hamilton Douglas Halyburton (1763-1783) of the Royal Navy (b. October 10, 1763; England - d. December 31, 1783; Sandy Hook, Gateway National Recreation Area, Monmouth County, New Jersey, USA)
He was listed as Hamilton Douglas Hallyburton in "Commissioned Sea Officers of the Royal Navy 1660-1815".
Son of Solto Charles Douglas, 14th Earl of Morton (1732-1774) and Katharine Hamilton (1736-1823). His brother was George Douglas, 15th Earl of Morton (1761-1827) who married Susan Elizabeth Yarde-Butler (c1793-1849).
On December 30 or 31, 1783 their British warship sank within sight of Sandy Hook. Halyburton and 12 of his crew died of hypothermia and were buried on Sandy Hook.
