Charles Edward Halstead Jr., 65, of Marmet formerly of Elkview, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at the home of his son, Travis.

He was the owner of Handi-Man Car Wash in Marmet, retired from FMC and a member of Charleston Moose. Charles was an avid runner, WVU fan and enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed life itself, but especially watching his boys grow up into men and starting there own lives.

He was a 1960 graduate of Elkview High School, where he played football, basketball and ran track. He attended Glenville State College, Morris Harvey and WV State College, and was a member of the WV Air National Guard.

Charles was preceded in death by his son, Charles Halstead III; parents, Charles Edward Sr. and Imogene Shafer Halstead; and brother-in-law, James Fox.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Karen Burrows, Allison Star, Allen Little and Kanawha Hospice for their help in time of need.

He is survived by sons, Joseph E. Halstead and wife Deena of Scott Depot and Travis Halstead of St. Albans; former wife, Karen Halstead Burrows of St. Albans; sisters, Mary Lou Fields and husband James of Elkview, Eva Fox of South Charleston, and Delores Bailey and husband Henry of Charleston.

The service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at the Hafer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Kanawha Hospice, 1143 Dunbar Ave., Dunbar, WV 25064.
