Mrs. Alexander Dies Suddenly
One of Gordon County's Pioneer Ladies Dies At Home of H.G. Lay Funeral Last Saturday Morning

Mrs. Mary Alexander long a resident of Gordon County died suddenly here last Friday afternoon of last week. After funeral services at the home of H.G. Lay the body was intered in the church cemetery at Bethlehem beside that of her husband.
Dr. Warren G. Cutts, of this city, conducted the funeral services and J.H. Starr was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

The death of Mrs. Alexander removes the last survivor of one of Gordon county's pioneer families.

Mrs. Alexander was the youngest daughter of Thomas Hall, who spend his early manhood in Oconee county, South Carolina. Thomas Hall was the son of Jesse Hall, who was born in Pittsylvania county, Va., in 1755. Jesse Hall was a soldier of the Revolution and took part in many battles. After the close of the Revolution he spent the remainder of his life on his farm near Seneca, S.C.

His son, Thomas Hall, who married Polly Evans, moved in a covered wagon to the Cherokee country of North Georgia while the Indians where still here. Thomas Hall settled on a farm near Sonoraville at a spot still known as Hall's Spring.

His youngest daughter, Mary, married James Alexander of South Carolina. He died near the outbreak of the Civil War, leaving his wife a widow. She resided in Gordon county and Calhoun the remainder of her long life. One of her sisters, Nancy, married Elisha Kinman and a brother, William, married Talitha Kinman, and from these marriages sprang a large number of descendants, several of these still live in Gordon county.
