Virginia Hall Franks went to be with the Lord on January 18, 2015. She was born October 10, 1917 in San Antonio, TX to O. Prentiss and Gertrude Hall. Growing up here, she met the love of her life, George Franks, on a summer evening while dancing on the roof top of the Gunter Hotel down town.

Graduating from the University of Texas, she was an accomplished pianist and loved ball room dancing. Once married to Lt. Franks, she was the consummate wife of a USAF officer, making a home for her family from base to base, making new friends, participating in Officers' Wives Clubs, entertaining in her home, and playing bridge and golf. She was a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader, Red Cross hospital volunteered, Red Cross Motor Corps, Thrift Shop. Retiring in Austin, TX, she and Col. George enjoyed volunteering with Chi Omega Alums, KLRN annual auction, 1886 Tea Room, attending UT football games, golf, bridge, travel and reading.

She had a flare for clothes, shoes, and accessories and was always impeccably dressed. She will be remembered for her fun-loving kindness and concern for others.

Her parents, husband George, daughter Martha Elizabeth, brother Charles Hall and his wife Sue, all preceded Virginia in death.

She is survived by two children, Anne Hanto (Don) of Tampa, FL and Larry Franks (D'Anne) of Brooksmith, TX; grandchildren Beth Hanto DeWeese (David), Jessica Franks Cristancho (Edwin), Don Hanto (Lauren) and Layne Franks; six great grandchildren and nephew Charles Hall.

A celebration of her life will be held Graveside at Sunset Memorial Park on January 30, 2015 at 11:00am.
