Electrical Shock Kills Earl R. Hall
Valparaiso relatives have received word of the death in Smith Center, Kan., of a former local young man and the pastor of a small church in that Kansas community. He is Earl R. Hall, 23, son of Mrs. L. C. Struble, Cleveland, and Fred Hall, Amboy, Ill. He was found dead in his church late Thursday, apparently having been electrocuted.
H. W. Hock, maternal grandfather who resides in Valparaiso, stated today that further details concerning Hall's death were unavailable.
However, reports from Smith Center stated that the body was found in the church after Hall failed to return home for his evening meal. He was apparently electrocuted early in the afternoon, as the church clock stopped at 2:30.
Born In Valparaiso
Hall was born in Valparaiso Sept. 13, 1932. He attended Valparaiso High school for one semester before moving to Denver, where he furthered his education.
He entered the Omaha Baptist Bible seminary where he had hoped to complete his studies in the near future. Last year he became pastor of the Smith Center church.
Hall had just closed a three-day Bible conference and was merging the services into a revival for the remainder of the week.
He was married and the father of two children, a son, Mark Steven, 5 and a daughter, Mildred Faith.
Surviving besides his widow, Patty, and the two children are his parents; one sister, Mrs. Richard Scholten, Valparaiso, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Hock, also of Valparaiso.
Services will be held in Smith Center Saturday afternoon. The body will be brought to Valparaiso, where final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Calvary Baptist church.
The Rev. C. D. Flood, Calvary Baptist church, will officiate. He will be assisted by the Rev. H. E. Meyer, of the First Baptist church. Burial will follow in Memorial park.
Friends may call at the Bartholomew Funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday until noon Monday.
