Mr. Hall was chairman of the board of Hall Freight Lines which operates in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin, and was president of Danville Transfer & Storage Co. which he joined in 1902. He also was an active emeritus member of the Supreme Coucil of Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.
Active in Danville business affairs since the turn of the century, he was a past president and director of the Illinois Warehouseman's Association and a charter director of the National Furniture Warehouseman's Association.
He was a past president and director of the Danville Chamber of Commerce, a past chairman of the Community Chest board, was city commissioner of finance in 1938, and a member of the Danville Selective Service Board in World War II.
Widely known for his service in Masonry, he was the oldest 33rd degree member here and had been a member of the Scottish Rite Supreme Council which governs 489,000 Masons in 15 midwest and eastern states since 1926 and an active since 1940.
He was the oldest past commander of Danville Consistory which he joined in 1915, a past monarch and charter member of Gao Grotto, a past officer in Walter A. Stevens Council Princes of Jerusalem and Gil W. Barnard Chapter of Rose Croix, a member of the York Rite bodies and Olive Branch Lodge 38 here, and St. Edward's Conclave of Red Cross of Constantine at Springfield.
He was also a member of Elks Lodge 332, a past president of Danville Rotary Club and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
