CALEY, ELEANOR HALL - age 93, died October 9, 2001 at Shannondale Health Care, (Knoxville, TN)after a many year illness of Alzhelmer's. She was born June 1, 1908 in Peoria, Ill., the daughter of Leslie Hall and Della Ingersoll Hall. A graduate of Eureka College in 1931, she married another Eureka graduate, Walter Leslie Caley that year. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert Hall; husband, and son, David Hall Caley. She is survived by her daughter, Glady Caley Faires; and son-in-law, Ross Faires of Knoxville; six grandchildren and their spouses including, Krt and Jennifer Faires, Chattanooga, Eric and Debbie Faires, Memphis, Jay Faires, New York City, Laurie and Greg Heinsohn, Morrison, Colo., Shannon and Dan Fortney, Louisville, KY, and Beth and Jeff Ombsby, Elkhart, Ind.; and by nine great-grandchildren, and also by sisters in law including Gladys Carroll of Harrisburg, Ill.
Mrs. Claey taught in the Indianapolis schools. She moved to Knoxville, TN after her husband's death in 1983. She became immersed in congregationsal life at Sequoyah Hills Prebyterian Church.
A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. William Barron at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Chapel at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. Burial will be in the family plot at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. Mrs. Caley's grandfather was a founder of that cemetery in the 1800's. (The Knoxville News-Sentinel, Knoxville, TN; Friday, October 12, 2001)
