Donald Alvin Hall, 77, of Duncan, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at his home after a long battle with Cancer and dementia. Donald was born in Duncan on July 11, 1936 to Otis & Violet Mae Hall. Donald married Norma J. Spivey September 27, 1958. He was a faithful member of Eastside Church of Christ. He served in the Air Force from June 1955 to June 1959. He joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in January 1966 and spent 21 years serving his state and was very proud of that service. He was stationed in Pryor, then Chickasha, which his assignment was on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike. He retired in 1986 and then in January 1990 he became the Chief of Police of Rush Springs and served 91/2 years. He lived in Rush Springs 27 years and in 2003 moved back to his hometown of Duncan. Donald enjoyed helping others. He has helped several friends building or repairing their house. He loved telling stories about the days on the OHP and some of the things that his partner Carl Alexander and others would pull on him. One time he had worked the late shift to 10 p.m. and had to go back out at 6:00 a.m. and had parked his patrol car in the front yard. When he got up and was getting ready he looked out the window and his car was gone. He said someone stole my patrol car. After a frantic phone call to dispatcher at Chickasha he learned that someone's car had broke down and they had came and got his but failed to tell him. Most of the troopers he worked with knew they could pull a joke on him. He took his job very serious. He also loved gardening and always wanted to plant enough to be able to give to family and church family especially planting okra. He loved it and wanted to share it with anyone else that loved it. He loved going to worship and loved the Lord. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Eastside Church of Christ, officiated by Larry Brantley and assisted by Arlyn Brantley. Interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Honor Guard.
