DAVENPORT -- Services for Ethel "Leoda" Halford, of Independence, Mo., formerly of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at The Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mrs. Halford died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, in Pleasant Hills, Mo. Ethel Welch was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Ava, Mo. She married Merle Halford in 1962 in Galena, Ill. She was employed as a nurse's aid in the healthcare industry until her retirement. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Survivors include her husband; a son, John Twitty, Independence; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Schwab, Pleasant Hills; and a brother, Virgil Welch, Ava. She was preceded in death by a son, Ray Twitty, on Dec. 28, 1999.
