Delores Moyer Hairston, 75, of Martinsville, died Monday, May 14, 2007, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was born in Martinsville on March 27, 1932 and was a daughter of the late John Cleveland Moyer and Mary Elizabeth Penn Moyer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Leon Hairston; a daughter, Thrisa Coles Hairston; two brothers, George and Clarence Moyer; a stepbrother, Jesse Penn; and two sisters, Helen Hairston and Rosa Lee Redd. She was a life-time self-employed domestic worker. She was an active member of Greater New Bethel Apostolic Church where she was in the adult choir, was a Sunday school teacher of Class No. 2, a member of Anniversary Group No. 5, and on the Mother Board.
Surviving are four daughters, Ann Meashell Penn of Critz and Mary Tyrosha Martin, Olga Delores-Johnson and Rose Marketti Price, all of Martinsville; three sons, Raymond Leon Hairston Jr. and Joseph Linnell Hairston, both of Martinsville, and Frederick Futura Hairston of Bassett; an adopted daughter, Deborah Reddick of Martinsville; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday at Greater New Bethel Apostolic Church with Pastor Mark E. Price Sr. officiating. Burial was in Carver Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Franco Zavier Martin, DeMario Preston. DeMarquee A. Hairston, Ray Martin, Eric Carter, Jerry Carter, Tsaikuwn Aldago Hairston, Rodney Bradley, Terry Carter and Mark E. Price Jr.
