Mrs. Leah A. Burkholder, 87, Box 846, RD 1, East Altoona, died early Monday morning, April 8,1996,at Altoona Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 7,1908, in Altoona, the daughter of Isaac Warren and Jessie (Deals) Haines. She married Elvin W. Burkholder Jan. 28,1928, in Cumberland,Md. He died Aug. 28,1951.
Mrs. Burkholder was a member of Community Bible Church, Juniata, where she was a member of the Jolly Sixties.
She retired as a waitress from McCrory's in 1970. Prior to that, she was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad restaurant and the East Altoona Railroad Bunkhouse.
Mrs. Burkholder was a member of Rebekah Lodge. Surviving are a son, James E. of Oaks; a daughter, Helen Boyer Wesnet of Roaring Spring; a brother, John Robert of Altoona; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Leah Burkholder was married to my dad's cousin and I have fond memories of visiting her in East Altoona where she lived with her daughter Helen. Home at last. We will all be together one day!
