Marguerite (Haines) Peterson Evangelist, 85, of Lansdale, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Abington Health-Lansdale Hospial. Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Peterson in 1967 and David Evangelist in 1994.
Born in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Bernard A. and Mary L. (Feusner) Haines, Sr. Marguerite moved to Hatfield in 1930 and graduated from the former Hatfield High School in 1942.

She was employed by Lansdale Savings and Loan which merged into First Family Federal Savings of Lansdale.
She was a faithful member of the Heidelberg United Church of Christ, Hatfield, PA.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, her friend Clara Nyce and her flower garden.

She was survived by two sons, William Peterson and his wife, Sharon, of Perkasie and Harold Peterson of Ewing, New Jersey; grandchildren, William Peterson, Jr. and his wife Sondra, of Telford, PA, Kimberly Peterson of Perkasie, PA; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Justin and Lucas Peterson and Cheyanne Wright, and her dog Kristi; two brothers, John Haines and his wife Rubyof North Wales and Bernard Haines, Jr. of Charlottesville, Virginia; and a sister, Clara Haines Vighetti of Hatfield, PA; and nieces and nephews. Marguerite is also survived by her loving Evangelist family, daughters, Rosemary Dahri and Ellie Mueller and sons, Joseph Evangelist and wife, Irene, and David Evangelistand his wife Pat; 10 step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, James R. Peterson in 1980 and her sister, Betty Edwards in 1998.

Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral Monday, June 15, 11AM at Heidelberg United Church of Christ, 1101 Cowpath Road, Hatfield, PA where the family will receive guests from 9 to 11AM. Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville, PA. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in Marguerite's name to the church.
Arrangements are by the Williams-Burey-Koffel Funeral Home, Franconia, PA.
