|Death: ||Aug. 9, 2004|
Elizabeth "Betty" Anne (Haight) Anderson worked in the United Service Organization (USO) and performed social services for the troops during World War II. She settled in Calaveras County and lived there from 1948-59, where she was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish.
She was an active mom, a den mother and a baseball mom and was a member of the PTA and Altar Society.
She married John Anderson on Feb. 20, 1943.
She and her husband built many homes along Highway 26. Her husband worked for Associated Lumber and Box in Wilseyville, and they had many friends from that area.
She loved to dance and was a rabid San Francisco 49er and Giants fan.
In 1959, they moved to Citrus Heights where she worked for a time at McClellan Air Force Base calibrating instruments for aircraft.
In 1972, she and her husband bought race horses, trotters and pacers and for 15 years traveled the racing circuit nationwide and especially Cal-Expo in Sacramento. She retired to Wilseyville in 1985 and moved to San Andreas in 1988. She moved to Tuolumne to live with her daughter in 2003.
She made lifetime friends wherever she went and maintained these friendships throughout her life, her family said. They added that family was always her first priority.
She always loved her horses, dogs and cats. During an interview in 2000, when asked about her life and any regrets, she said she planned on a career in journalism, but the rewards from raising her family far outweighed any regrets she might have had.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Corcoran of Tuolumne; a son, John Anderson of Ventura; grandchildren, Tony Anderson of Lodi, Christine Guerra of Houston, Emma Tiffany of Santa Cruz and Stephanie and Kyle Anderson, both of Agoura Hills, Los Angeles County; great-grandchildren, Ben and Amanda Anderson of Lodi; brothers, Richard Haight of Arnold and George Haight of Murphys; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Anderson, in May 1992; a son, Chris Anderson, in September 2002; and brothers, Alfred and John Haight.
