Mr. James "Jay" Mark Hahne Sr., 59, of Anderson, Mo., was called to heaven at 12:23 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo., following a short illness.
Jay began his journey Oct. 24, 1950, in Fredericksburg, Texas, one of four children born to Felix "Bill" Walter and Katherine Marie (Kaiser) Hahne. Jay married the love of his life, Kathleen Ann Hagee on April 5, 1972, at Fredericksburg, Texas, and to this union two sons were born. They moved to Anderson, Mo., in 1982, coming from San Angelo, Texas. Jay was a school teacher, teaching special education and social studies at the McDonald County High School in Anderson, Mo., retiring in 2007. He was very active with the Drug Free Scholarship Program at the high school and cared deeply for his students and their success and achievements. Jay was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Anderson Lions Club, Southwest Missouri Credit Union and Missouri State Teachers Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Canera Catholic Church in Neosho, Mo.
Jay was preceded in death by his father, Felix "Bill" Hahne, and his mother-in-law, Marjorie Jeanne Hagee.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kathy Hahne; two sons, James "Jim" Mark Hahne Jr. and wife, Susan, of Anderson, Mo., and Joseph William Hahne of Springfield, Mo.; his mother, Katherine Hahne of Fredericksburg, Texas; father-in-law, Bob Hagee of Anderson, Mo.; a brother, Jonathan Hahne and wife, Jan, of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Jill Aanstoos and husband, Ted, of Austin, Texas, and Jodi Hannemann and husband, Dennis, of Fredericksburg, Texas; three grandchildren, Kaity Hahne, Cait Hahne, and Cameron Hahne; four nephews, Carl, Daniel, Jordan and Jared; four nieces, Aeron, Amanda, Amy and Brooke; as well as a host of friends and neighbors that will dearly miss Jay.
Funeral services for Jay Hahne will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, Texas. Monseigneur Enda McKenna will offi ciate.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at the Walker-Dowd Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to an educational fund established for his grandchildren at any local Arvest Bank or in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care of Walker-Dowd Funeral Home, of Anderson, Mo.
