She married William Hahesy in 1958 and later divorced.

Jean was born April 1, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Francis J. and Nellie J. (Hill) Hansel. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1958. On October 16, 1958, Jean was united in marriage to William D. Hahesy at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manchester. Five children were born to this union. They settled in Manchester, where Jean was a homemaker. The couple later divorced. Jean drove school bus for West Delaware Schools for thirteen years.

Jean was a member of the Manchester V.F.W. Auxiliary. Her hobbies included genealogy, woodcrafts and collecting owls.

She died on Wednesday, November 5, 2003, at her home in Manchester in her sleep.
