Howard Hagood Jr., after just celebrating his 90th birthday, passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham, Texas.
Howard Hagood was born in Lyford, Texas Aug. 16, 1919 to parents Howard Hagood Sr. and Eva Ruth Critcher Hagood. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1940 with a degree in chemical engineering. He was a water treatment engineer.
On May 5, 1942 he married Eloise Ligon. Upon joining the United States Navy and moving to Annapolis, he became a lieutenant and boarded a carrier in 1943.
His parents and wife preceded him in death.
His loving family includes daughter Peggy H. Kahn of Sunnyvale, Calif.; son Jim Hagood and his wife Terry of Brigantine, New Jersey; grandchildren Shane Hagood and wife Andreea and great-grandchildren Alex and Natalie of Medfield, Mass., Shelley Hurt of Cayucos, Calif., Brian Hurt of Los Gatos, Calif.; sister Ruth Lisso of Jacksonville, Fla.; nephew Van Ligon and family of Abilene, Texas.
Howard Hagood died peacefully. He lived a full life with singing, dancing, fishing, playing golf and gardening.
He was a good father who was always there to help and support his family. We remember fondly the family barbecues at Panorama Village in Conroe, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at Brenham Bible Church in Brenham with Pastor J. B. Hixson officiating.
Donations would be acceptable in Howard's memory to the Brenham Bible Church or a charity of choice.
As his wishes, he will be cremated.
