Betty was born on January 23, 1931, in Portland,Oregon to parents Walter James and Marjorie Lewis. She spent her first 13 years in Kinzua, Oregon, where her father was the company nurse who ran the medical facility. When she was 14, the family moved to Bend, Oregon, so that she could attend high school in Bend. It was at Bend High that she met her future husband, Kenneth Hagen, who had recently returned from the service. She graduated from Bend High School in 1948, and later that year married Ken.

In 1949, they moved to Prineville, and were proud parents of 5 children; Ken, Jim, Ron, Patty and Kim. While assisting her husband in his business, she also worked at various places, including Crook County High School and the Prineville Police Department. In 1968, she began working at the Prineville Railway as an accountant. After 25 years at the Railway, she retired in 1993.

Betty was also an active member in the community; she was on the board of the Parks and Recreation Department, a co-chair of Habitat for Humanity, and President of the Soroptomists----it was during her tenure that the Senior Center became a reality. After her children were grown, she and Ken were also foster parents.

Betty is survived by her children-Ken, of Macon, Missouri, Jim, of Lake Forest, California, Ron, of Camas, Washington, Patty, of Sacramento, California, and Kim, of Redmond, Oregon, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
