Margaret Barbara Artzer, 98, Topeka, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 1996 at a Topeka nursing home.

She was born Feb. 20, 1898 at Topeka, the daughter of John and Mary Ann Schoenfeldt Haefner.

She was a lifelong Topeka resident. Mrs. Artzer was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Altar Society at the church, St. Anthony's Guild and the auxiliary to the Eagles lodge No. 58.

She married Adam John Artzer on May 16, 1917 in Topeka. He died Oct. 30, 1962. She also was preceded in death by five sons, Victor Artzer, Adam John Artzer Jr., Vincent Artzer, Bernard Artzer and James Artzer; and two daughters, Lillian Rose and Thelma Stauffer.

Survivors include a son, LeRoy Artzer, Topeka; two daughters, Lorene Eiert, Wakarusa, and Rosemary Cavanaugh, Topeka; 17 grand-children; 20 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Artzer will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a St. Anthony's Guild rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. and a parish rosary will be recited at 6:60 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 227 S.S. Van Buren, Topeka, 66603.
