Curtis O'Donell Hadlock, age 84, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2005 at the Cottonwood Hospital in Murray, Utah.
He was born June 3, 1921 in Vernal, Utah to Carl Hadlock and Rosa Minerva Eaton Hadlock.
He was reared in Vernal with eight brothers and sisters and graduated from Uintah High School. He and his brother, LeGrande, played basketball and were instrumental in winning the State High School championship in 1939. Curtis received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1949 from BYU and a Master of Science degree from the University of Utah in 1966.
He was an educator for forty years as a seminary teacher, elementary teacher, and principal in Provo and Granite School Districts.
Curtis was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as a missionary in the Spanish American mission. He followed his mission with two years in the U.S. Navy and served at Camp Kearney near San Diego, California.
He married Lillian Lee of Tooele, Utah in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 23, 1943. They had six wonderful children. He and his wife served as missionaries in the Hartford, Connecticut mission from 1985-1986, where he served as branch president. He served as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple for almost twenty years. Curtis served in most organizations of the church from high council to Primary and was active in the Murray Chapter of the Sons of Pioneers.
Curtis is survived by his lovely wife, Lillian; their six children and spouses, James (Kathy), John (Joelynn), David (Jamie), Kevin (JoLynn), Leann (Reed) Bowers, and Julie (Michael) Tracy; twenty-five grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Verna Murray, Opal Slaugh, and Theresa Larsen; and brother, Kenneth. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ardith Robbins; and brothers, Emil, Charles, and LeGrande.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 in the Cottonwood Heights First Ward Chapel, 7075 South 2245 East, Cottonwood Heights. The viewing will be held on Monday, November 21, 2005 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior at the church.
