Her funeral will be at 12 PM on Monday, March 28th, 2011 at Badin United Methodist Church and her family will receive friends from 10:45 AM until 11:45 AM in the church sanctuary just prior to the hour of service.
At other times the family will meet at the home of her daughter, Gloria Summerlin of Valley Drive, Badin, NC. Rev. Laura Hamrick will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory.
Born June 16th, 1913 in Spartinburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Robert T. and Mettie Thomas Hadden.
She graduated from Fairforest High School in Spartinburg, SC. She was the cafeteria manager in Alamance County and a member of Badin United Methodist Church. She enjoyed hand craft work, sending cards to shut-ins and those with birthdays, playing the piano, and music in general.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert A. Avinger, Sr. and one grandchild. She was the eldest of five siblings and was also preceded in death by four of them.
She is survived by her son, Albert A. Avinger, Jr. and wife Susan of Randleman, NC; one daughter, Gloria A. Summerlin and husband David of Badin, NC; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
