Helen Elizabeth "Betty" Wilson was born on January 13, 1932 in Coldwater, Kansas to Harry and Lottie (Cooper) Hackney. She passed away on November 6, 2004 at St. Mary's Regional Hospital in Enid at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 23 days. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Freedom United Methodist Church with Rev. Woody Harmon officiating. Burial was in Freedom Cemetery under the direction of Wharton Funeral Chapel. She graduated from Freedom High School with the Class of 1950. She married Calvin Dean Wilson on April 29, 1951 in Alva. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Laura Murrow and Mildred Hodgson; and her brothers, Scott Hackney, Lloyd Hackney, Phillip Hackney, and George Hackney. She is survived by her husband, Dean; her daughters, Deanette Roann Singhurse of Terre Haute, Indiana, Sharil Hardy of Liberal, Kansas, and Carol Kay Bowers of Cherokee; her sons, Randy Dean Wilson of Freedom and Darol Ray Wilson of Monte Vista, Colorado; her brother, Vernie Hackney of Alva; fourteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
