OBITUARY
Mr. John Joseph Hackmeyer, Sr., age 82 - a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL died Monday, February 5, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Hackmeyer was a member and past-president of the Mobile Optimist Club. He served as a Real Estate Officer for the Mobile Housing Board for 18 years and retired as the Assistant Executive Director.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert O. and Nellie C. Hackmeyer; two brothers, Herbert J. Hackmeyer, LTCDR and Joseph F. Hackmeyer; a daughter, Patricia Ann Hackmeyer; and one grandson, James Dean Edwards. He is survived by his wife, Martha Elizabeth Hackmeyer of Mobile; five children: John J. Hackmeyer, Jr. (Stella) of Flowood, MS, Michael Hackmeyer (Pam) of Mobile, Elizabeth Ann Burnes (Jim) of Daphne, Deborah Midgette (Ben) of Mobile, and Mark Hackmeyer (Laurie) of Mobile; two sisters: Mary Louise Martin of Mobile and Helen Martina of Fairhope; 8 grandchildren : Lisa Valentine (Jason) of Opelika, AL, Jessica Reid (Brian) of Fairhope, AL, Danielle Cowart (John) of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Nathan Oliver Hackmeyer of Mobile, Benjamin Midgette of Beaumont, TX, John Thomas Midgette of Mobile, Christopher Hackmeyer of Mobile, and Charles (Casey) Hackmeyer of Mobile; 6 great-grandchildren.
The graveside service and interment will be held Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 3 p.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at Pine Crest Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations be made to one's favorite charity.
