Mary Agnes Higginbotham, 88, of South Charleston passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at Hubbard Hospice House West. She was a 50-year member of Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church, Charleston. She retired from Kanawha County schools with 35 years of service as a teacher, principal and supervisor. She was a member of the Pilot Club. She was a member of the Women's Club of Charleston, as well as the Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teacher Sorority. She was also a member of the auxiliary and a volunteer at CAMC Hospitals for 35 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Lee and Cleo Hill Hackett; husband, James L. Higginbotham; sisters, Frances Brown and Margaret Virginia Bickel; and a nephew, Charles L. Bickel. Mary is survived by nieces, Sandra Underwood of Pensacola, Florida, Myra Siciliano of West Allenhurst, N.J., and Carol Bickel of South Charleston. A service to honor the life of Mary Higginbotham will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 12, at Snodgrass Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert M. Wood officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Family and friends may visit from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Snodgrass Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311.
