Mary was the daughter of George Hackett (died 1800), a Revolutionary War soldier, and Elizabeth (?) Hackett.

Mary married Francis Silver, Sr., (1740-1815) in 1778 as his second wife.

In 1778 the Silvers and the Hacketts were near neighbors in East Pennsboro(ugh), Pennsylvania. Later the Hackett family lived in Tyrone Township, Perry County, Pennsylvania, and Mary is mentioned in her father's will.

Francis and Mary had 10 children, all of whom are mentioned in their mother's will which was probated in Berkeley County, (now West) Virginia in 1825.

The other children of Francis and Mary were:

1) Dr. William Mark Silvers (1774/80 - 1866) was born in Cumberland County, PA. He married Mary (Myers) Silvers (born c.1783) on 23 Mar 1805 in Berkeley County, (now) West Virginia. Mary was the daughter of Teter Myers, Sr. (16 Mar 1751 - 5 Apr 1838) and Margaret (Behr/Beare) Myers (10 June 1756 - 10 Oct 1818).

2) Joseph Silver married Sarah (Miller) Silver on 20 Apr 1813.

3) Bathsheba (Silver) Mendenhall (died 27 Dec 1836) married Jacob Mendenhall on 3 Oct 1803 in Washington County, Maryland.

4) Harriet (Silver) Ford ["Hetty"] married Joseph Ford in 1803.

5) George Silver

6) Edward Silver (18 Apr 1796 - 8 Oct 1837) married Mary (Locker) Silver in 1818.

7) Samuel Silver (27 May 1797 - 27 Nov 1847). He [1st] married Nancy (Blackman) Silver or Mary Locher (Blackburn) Silver in 1822. Samuel [2nd] married Anne (Otto) Silver on 23 May 1825.
