Barbara E. Eicher, 93, of Sycamore, Ill., died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Bethany Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in DeKalb. She was born to George August and Mary Alice (Climer) Hacker on May 3, 1916, in Jacksonville, Ill. She married Walter Eicher on June 12, 1941, at Fairmont Methodist Church in Lockport. Barbara was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore for many years and made many friends there. Barbara also enjoyed sewing and had a wonderful talent for knitting. She is survived by one sister, Betty Oldant of Lockport; nieces and nephews, Karen Hall, Alice Sue Hacker, Laura Beth Hacker, Rose Anna Bowie, Linda Hanke, Wesley Hacker, Charles Hacker and Alan Follett; and special friend, Wendy Scidmore.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; siblings, Emerson, Joyce and Dorothy. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 11, at Salem Lutheran Church, 1145 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore, with Judy Bergeson, diaconal minister, officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday until time of service at the church. Burial will be at Warrenville Cemetery in Warrenville.
