Jean H. Allen, 89, of Calvary Homes, 502 Elizabeth Dr., died Tuesday at the Essa Flory Hospice Center.

She was the wife of the late Robert J. Allen, who died in 1997. Born in Philadelphia, Jean was the daughter of the late John and Jean Darragh Hacker.

She was a homemaker, and a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

A veteran of World War II, Jean had served as a WAVE in the US Navy, stationed in the United States.

In her earlier years, she had been a harpist with the Philadelphia Philharmonic Orchestra, and had also been a pianist.

She is survived by two sons: Richard J. Allen of Annapolis, MD and Robert J. Allen of New York and by three grandsons: Robert, Ryan and Richard Allen.

Friends will be received on Monday from 10-11AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, with Mass to follow at 11AM. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
