Edward Thomas "Ted" Hacker Lansing Born in Lansing, Michigan Dcember 20, 1926 to Edward G. Hacker and Della B. Hacker and died March 25, 2012 at Sparrow Hospice House. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Barbara Hacker Baldwin. Ted graduated from Sexton High School in January 1945 and was drafted into the army. He was on the west coast ready to be sent to Japan when the armistice was signed ending W.W.II. He was sent by ship to Korea where he worked as a baker in the 377th Staff Hospital medical unit. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1951 and married Joanne Crego Hacker on November 3, 1951. He worked in the family real estate business, the Edward G. Hacker Co., starting out in residential sales and soon became involved in the administrative and commercial side of the business. One of his proud achievements was working with Dr. John Hannah to purchase hundreds of acres for future development for Michigan State University. He earned the national SIOR designation (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors). He was active in the community, serving as a Director for the Bank of Lansing, Member and Past-President of the Greater Lansing Association of Realtors, Trustee on the Lansing Community College Board of Trustees, Director on the YMCA and a 25 year Director on the Board of Sparrow Health Systems. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church for most of his life and more recently joined The Peoples Church of East Lansing. Ted enjoyed being with his family and friends, time spent at the cottage on Otsego Lake, playing his trumpet to the sounds of the Big Band era with the Basement Five Band, tennis, and later in life enjoyed the game of golf. Ted is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jo, his son Tom and daughter-in-law, Marsha, his daughter Lori and son-in-law, Pat Fuller, grandchildren Ross (Bethany) Hacker, Nathan Hacker, Alex Lapka, Kaitlin Lapka, Anna Fuller and great-grandchildren Violet, Annabelle, Reid and Naomi Hacker, brother Richard C. Hacker (Barbara), brother-in-law David Crego (Nancy) and many nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held immediately with a memorial service honoring his life to be held in May. Those desiring memorial gifts may be made to the Sparrow Foundation, the Lansing Rotary or The Peoples Church. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at
