Paul L. Hacker, 77, Reading, passed away March 16, 2010, at 8:06 p.m. in Hershey Medical Center, where he was a patient for eight days. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Fick) Hacker. Born in Reading on June 15, 1932, he was the son of the late Catherine M. (Grube) Ferrara and the late John Hacker. Mr. Hacker was a graduate of Reading High School and DeVry Technical Institute. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict and was a member of St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church. He was a volunteer and Scout master for Boy Scout Troop 305 at St. Joseph RC Church, a board member of Leesport Gun Club, an expert on Gettysburg and the battle fought there during the Civil War, and the writer of several published books. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, and a son, and four grandchildren. Services will be at the convenience of the family in Bean Funeral Home, North 16th and Rockland streets, Hampden Heights. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
