Sarah J. "Sadie" Harvey, 62, Creston, Iowa, with a daughter in Shelbyville, died Thursday at her home.
Born on July 1, 1935, in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of Raymond J. and Saide Z. (Lewis) Ries. On Aug. 22, 1959, she married Edward T. Harvey Jr., and he survives.
Mrs. Harvey graduated from St. Joseph's Academy, Des Moines, attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines for four years, and earned her bachelor's degree from St. Mary College, Leavenworth, Kan.
Mrs. Harvey taught at Mercy Hospital, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and worked at the Creston Medical Clinic, retiring in 1973.
Mrs. Harvey had served on the St. Malachy's School Board, Creston and the Union County Extension Council. She was also a member of the Holy Spirit Parish Altar Society, Creston, the Union County Genealogy Society, and the Patches and Pieces Quilting Guild.
Other survivors include three daughters, Sheila Jane Parks, Shelbyville, Loretta L. Harvey, West Des Moines, Iowa, and Ann M. Harvey, Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Mary
L. Morrissey, Colfax, Iowa; a sister in-law, Helen Ann Harvey, Omaha; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
