Grace Marie Winningham Gwin of Jacksonville, Ore., passed away at 94 years old June 2, 2010. She was the first girl born to John Jackson Winningham and Mary Stella Matthew (Goggy), September 20, 1915, in Trail, Ore.
She grew up in Jackson County, Ore. Grace attended Jacksonville High School. She mainly lived in Jacksonville, Ore. Grace resided in her last house for over 50 years.
She married James F. Gwin, October 20, 1933. They had two children, Joan and Keith.
Grace loved to fish and hunt with her husband. She made all her clothes. Grace loved to knit, especially making sweaters. She was remarkable at fishing. Grace loved playing cards and bingo.
She belonged to the Royal Neighbors. Grace worked at the Jacksonville Museum. She took care of many elderly people over the years, and did housekeeping for some. Grace volunteered at Loaves and Fishes, serving food for around 20 years.
Grace is survived by her children, Joan Saltmarsh, and Keith (Claudia) Gwin; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; and Frank, her last dog.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, James Gwin; grandson, Michael Fraser; great-granddaughter, Lea Worthington; sister, Marion Ley; brothers, Lee, Paul, Roy, David, and Matthew Winningham; and Tinker and Heidi, her beloved dogs.
