John Brandon married Addie Gwyn.
Addie's mother-in-law Zillah Brandon wrote in her journal:
Here, dear reader, I must record another breach made by the unwelcome approach of death in our family. The wife of our second son, John, whose marriage is recorded in this history. They had been married six years. She died after an illness of eighteen days. Her husband was a member of the legislature of our state and was at Montgomery in the early stages of his wife's sickness. He was summoned home in haste and reached home in nine days. She was a professor of religion, exemplary in her Christian walk, a model of neatness in her house. From what I could learn, she had been diseased from childhood. She died in peace leaning on the breast of her husband and relying on the mercy of God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She left one child, a daughter one year old. I could say much more of her but I must be brief as my health only allows me short intervals to write days before her death.
