Owen Gwathmey, Jr. was one of the children born to Owen Gwathmey, Sr. and his wife Hannah Temple.

Owen was united in marriage to Ann Rogers Clark in 1773. Ann was one of the daughters born to Jonathan 'John' Clark and his wife Ann Rogers. Ann was the sister of General William Clark, half of the exploratory team of 'Lewis and Clark'.
