AKERS, Virgie K. Gwaltney, 92, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, September 12, 1996. She was the widow of Charlie Gwaltney and David Akers.
Surviving are daughters and son-in-law, Virginia and Ernest Mohler, Virginia Beach, Marie Gwaltney, Roanoke; sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Dorothy Gwa ltney, Chesapeake, George B. and Louise Akers, Mesa, Ariz., Billy N. and Phyllis Akers, Roanoke; several grandchildren including Deborah and Joe Williams, Donna and Bill Martin, all of Roanoke; several great-grandchildren; brother, Irvin King, Roanoke; sister, Inez Foster, Shawsville.
Funeral services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 11 a.m., Monday, September 16, 1996, with the Rev. Carter L. Sloan officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
