Alfred P. "Fred" Guyette, 63, a lifelong resident of Chicopee, passed away on Saturday in Baystate Medical Center. Fred was born on July 7, 1950, the son of Yvette M. (Rivest) Guyette of Chicopee and the late Ernest G. "Pete" Guyette, was educated in Chicopee Schools, graduating from Chicopee Comprehensive Trade School. He served in the Air National Guard from 1969 until his discharge in 1975. Fred has been employed by Duval Precision Grinding, Inc. in Chicopee for the past 40 years and had also worked for 14 years as a truck driver for the Nabisco Co. Besides his mother, Fred also leaves his wife of 40 years, Susan J. (Renaud) Guyette, two daughters, Valerie Desroches and her husband Rob and Janet Sicard and her husband Justin "Jay" Sicard, all of Chicopee and his three grandchildren, Emily and Courtney Desroches and Gavin Sicard. He is also survived by his seven siblings, Peter E. (Sandy), Rolland M., William J. (Patty), Robert J. (Linda), Michelle M. and Jamie A. Guyette and Therese L. Lamoureux and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee with the Funeral Mass being offered at 10 a.m. in Our Lady's Chapel on the campus of Our Lady of the Elms College, 291 Springfield St., Chicopee. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. It was Fred's request that flowers be omitted and contributions in his memory be made to "Team Hope", c/o The National MS Society, Greater New England Chapter, P. O. Box 845945, Boston, MA, 02284-5945 or the charity of the donor's choice .
