He was born on July 11, l930, at Holly Springs, a son of the late Fred Gurnsey Sr. and Flora Eric Reynolds Gurnsey.
He was raised and received his early education at Holly Springs. He graduated from Bearden High School. He moved from Camden to Pine Bluff in 1961, and owned and operated P & G Heating and Air Conditioning. He was a member of Plum Bayou Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Gurnsey of Blue Springs, Missouri; two daughters, Cindy McGahhey and Karen Young, both of Pine Bluff; a caregiver and soulmate who lived with him, Selma Parker of Wright; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with the Rev. John R. Hagan officiating. Burial will be in Old Holly Springs Cemetery near Bearden.
