Eileen Gunn, 89, passed away December 20, 2014 at her home. She was born to Anna and Roy Buchner of Akron, N.Y. on November 19, 1925.

Her husband of 58 years, Robert C. Gunn, preceded her in death in 2011.

She is survived by her loving children, Robert G. Gunn (Nancy) of Hickory, KY, Lynn Houston (Michael) of Nebraska City, Neb and Colleen Payne (Tyson) of Memphis. She also leaves 3 grandchildren, Gordon R. Gunn, Jessica and Amber Houston.

She graduated from The Deaconess Hospital of Nursing in Buffalo, N.Y. as a registered nurse. During her nursing career she worked at several hospitals and nursing homes in Buffalo. She was a loving wife, mother and a good friend to many and a sweet little lady to all that knew her.

Eileen and her husband moved from Williamsville, N.Y. to Memphis in 2009 to be closer to family and many thanks to all of those who were so wonderful to them. Thank you to her friends at the Monarch who were exceedingly kind to her and also to Kathy and Australia. Words cannot express our gratitude. Thanks so much to Dr. Shiffman and nurses Miriam, Jeanette and Suzanne as well as Crossroads Hospice. Judy, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Holy Rosary Church, was a true friend to our mother and father.

Our mother will be deeply missed by all of us but she really enjoyed living in Memphis and getting to know the South during the final chapter of her life.

The family will receive friends from 9 – 10 am on Tuesday, December 23 and a funeral service will follow all at Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to Holy Rosary Church or Catholic Charities.
