May Anker, 77, of rural Clitherall, died Monday, September 20, 2004, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan home surround-ed by her family.
Funeral services were held at the Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church of rural Clitherall Saturday, September 25 with Pastor Roger Hanson officiating.
Music was provided by organist, Violet Moen and vocalist Robert Herbranson sang "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art". Congregational hymns were "Beautiful Savior" and "Children of the Heavenly Father".
Casketbearers were Scott Anker, Tony Anker, James Salomonson, Jason Salomonson, Jacob Salomonson and John
church cemetery.
May Corrine Gunderson was born in Nidaros Township, Otter Tail County, October 25, 1926, the daughter of Magnus and Clara (Moen) Gunderson. May was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Pastor O. Rogne and confirmed by Pastor A. Framstad at the Nidaros Lutheran Church. She grew up in Nidaros Township and attended public school in Vining. When she finished her schooling she worked as a hired girl for area farm families.
May was married to Herman Anker August 17. 1947 by Pastor A. Framstad at the Nidaros Lutheran Church. They made their home on the Anker homestead near Clitherall. Herman died April 28, 1999.
May is survived by her daughter, Catherine (James) Salomon-son of Fergus Falls; son, Mark of rural Clitherall; grandchildren, Jason, Jacob, John and Josephine; two great granddaughters, Courtney and Emma; a sister, Alice (Maurice) Anker of rural Clitherall and a brother. Gilbert (Ellen) Gunderson of Doyline, LA; sisters-in-law. Anne Gunderson of rural Clitherall and Joyce Weisbrich of St. Paul Park and brother-in-law, Clifford Clovning.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant sister, Elaine; sisters, Bertha (Martin) Christopherson and Mildred Clovning and brothers, George and John Gunderson.
Belmont Funeral Home of Henning was in charge of the arrangements.
