Obituary
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 23, 2009 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Lovenia Guilbeau, age 98, the former Lovenia Comeaux, who passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at her residence in Carencro.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Readers will be Don Menard and Dianna Veillon. Giftbearers will be Lona Broussard and Bertha Trahan.

Musical selections will be provided by Julie Broussard, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Amazing Grace, Hail Mary Gentle Woman, Isaiah 49, You're Standing On Holy Ground, and Just A Closer Walk With Thee.

Mrs. Guilbeau was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. She was formerly employed with Hub City Laundry. Mrs. Guilbeau was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro and was a member of Bonne Mort Society, St. Anne Society, Ladies Altar Society, Sacred Heart League, and also a member of St. John Berchman Catholic Church and a member of St. Ann Society in Cankton.

Survivors include one son, Adam Royer and his wife, Helen, of Carencro; three daughters, Mary Lois Duhon and her husband, Howard, of Scott, Darnel Roger and Priscilla Meche and her husband, Victorian "Zack", all of Carencro; two sisters, Lona Broussard of Carencro, Bertha Trahan of Washington; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and ten great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ned Royer; her second husband, Raoul Guilbeau; her parents, Louis Comeaux and the former Bernadette Prejean, both natives of Carenco; six brothers, Elly Comeaux, Genaro Comeaux, Lovin Comeaux, Louistan Comeaux, John Comeaux, and Ursie Comeaux; three sisters, Berlin C. Leger, Marie C. Hernandez, and Edise C. Guillot; one great grandson, Billy Menard; two sons in law, Hayward Roger, and Tilben Menard; three step sons, A.C. Guilbeau, George Guilbeau, and Roy Guilbeau.

A rosary was prayed by Don Menard at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Victorian "Zack" Meche, Gregory Menard, Danny Royer, Ivan Roger, Wilson Dugas, Jr. and Bradley Guilbeau. Honorary pallbearers will be, Nue Trahan, Eugene Guilbeau, Howard Duhon, and all her grandsons.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue was in charge of arrangements.
