Memorial services will be held Friday, January 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Rita Guilbeau, age 85, the former Rita Dugas, who passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 8:30 am at her residence in Carencro.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mrs. Guilbeau was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. She worked as an assistant town clerk for the City of Carencro for 16 years. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, and a member of the Bonne Mort Society and Sacred Heart League.

Survivors include one son, David Guilbeau, Jr. of Carencro; one daughter, Rita Jo Bernard and her husband, Irvin of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Damon Guilbeau and his wife, Yvonne, Dana Guilbeau and her husband, George, Todd Patin, Sr. and his wife, Lisa, and Melanie Drennan and her husband, Michael; nine great grandchildren, Brittani Clement, Brandi Clement, Todd Patin, Jr, Ty Patin, Emily Drennan, Mia Drennan, Kaden Guilbeau, Ashton Guilbeau and Ashlyn Guilbeau.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Guilbeau, Sr.; her parents, Vital Dugas and the former Claire Bowie; one brother, Raymond Dugas; and two sisters, Elsie Dugas and Ethel Arceneaux and her companion Horace Foreman.

Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro was in charge of arrangements.
