Word services will be held Sunday, December 20, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Floyd "Pop" Guidry, age 83, who passed away Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 5:45 p.m. at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in Lafayette.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. Deacon Jim Cormier will officiate at the services.
Mr. Guidry was a native and resident of Carencro. He was a veteran of the military having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro.
Survivors include his wife, Maude Guidry, of Carencro; two sons, Glenn Guidry and his wife, Linda Gail, of Laplace and Joel Guidry and his wife, Monica, of Lafayette; two daughters, Gale Meaux and her husband, Dale, of Abbeville and Charlene Cormier and her husband, David, of Carencro; nine grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one brother, Chester Guidry of Lafayette; and one sister, Mary Lou Desormeaux of Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sosthene Guidry and the former Emerida Breaux; one brother, Jules Guidry; and six sisters, Elba Credeur, Mable Miller, Elia Martin, Gladys Camel, Lena Braquet and Georgine Breaux.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Guidry, Joel Guidry, Jerrid Meaux, Kelly Meaux, Cole Guidry and Coy Guidry. Honorary pallbearers will be David Cormier and Dale Meaux.
Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Avenue Carencro, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
